Thesis: Suffragettes in the late 19th and early 20th century explored radical methods of protest to capture the public’s attention, encountered aggressive opposition, and exchanged their ideas with future progressive groups.
The Movement
Women's suffrage was a movement that began in the 1800s and continued on into the early 1900s. The movement aimed to secure women in the United States with the right to vote in elections. Suffragettes fought for this right until the passage of the 19th Amendment on August 18, 1920.
